As a professional graphic designer spanning 25 years, I’ve designed and collaborated on numerous successful creative web and print publishing projects for both small and high-profile companies. I currently am the owner and lead designer at my creative/design agency in North Denver called, NORDEN41.
After starting my career at the Denver, Colorado-based publishing software company, Quark, Inc., I went on to design and art direct 5280 Magazine: Denver’s Mile High Magazine. Broadening my skill set as a magazine designer, I was the co-conceiver, designer and art director of a San Francisco based publication called X-RAY Magazine which featured editorial coverage of Quark products and related publishing software.
I launched my freelance design business in Paris, France in 1998 where I designed and art directed web and printed materials for numerous design & tech American companies such as Quark®, Adobe® and the color-matching company, PANTONE®. I also designed for several European based companies, often creating materials in several different languages. While in Paris, I had the wonderful opportunity to teach graphic design at The American University of Paris.
After 7 years living abroad, I returned to Denver in 2005 to do a 2-year stint with Quark as their Global Creative Director. In 2007, I had an ever-present “entrepreneurial itch” that I needed to scratch so stepped out of the corporate veil to form my own business, Bargell Design, a graphic design agency (which was recently re-named NORDEN41 Design).
In Spring of 2013, I took a NxLevel class at the Denver SBDC, and this was quite an awakening. It was here that I discovered the power of a solid business plan as well as the amazing support for Colorado’s small business community. As a result of this experience, I acquired a newfound passion for my craft and the confidence to grow my business the right way.
